Our Mission

The Green Alliance for Veteran Education (G.A.V.E.) was organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes as specified in Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It is important to note that one hundred percent of our donations go directly to assisting veterans and their families, as none of our staff receive payment for their work.

All activities of G.A.V.E. are carried out for the benefit of military veterans who have faithfully served their country and may now be struggling with employment issues, low or no income, and even homelessness. Some may be suffering from traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and or may just feel alone and frustrated in the civilian world.  By providing up-to-date resource information, claim support, therapeutic and education opportunities to veterans and their dependents, G.A.V.E. is instrumental in facilitating the veterans’ successful reintegration back into civilian life.

We are currently involved in a myriad projects, two of which are the Northwest Veterans Resource Center, in Port Angeles, Washington, and the the Robin Hill Victory Garden, located in Clallam County, Washington. These can both be viewed by checking out our Projects page.

As always, we are open to discussing future projects and ventures.

GARDEN FLYERtomatoes1 sept12 2013 pumpkin and tomatoes1 sept12 2013 balanced bench and flowers sept12 2013Any veteran who wants to have a garden, but doesn’t have the space for one can contact the North West Veteran Resource Center at 360-797-1791 for the latest garden application. You can also download the application here:  Robin Hill Victory Garden Application  and call the number above for directions on how to submit the application.

Please take time to read the application and understand your responsibilities. This is a veteran community farm, where everyone gets their own plot. However, we do have a shared area as well, where we grow food for all of our gardeners and their families. What we don’t end up using, we donate to the local food banks and veteran stand downs.  Seeds, plants, and instructions on organic farming are provided by one of our own Master Gardeners, so don’t worry if you are not an experienced gardener yourself.

All we ask is that you provide a couple hours a week in your garden…planting, picking weeds, or giving guidance to someone else if you are unable to do the work yourself. Then you can enjoy your tomatoes, zucchini, onions, peppers, squash, berries, and NOT worry about paying for them at the store!!

Every year, our gardeners have so much produce that they end up giving some away! Our pumpkin patch always provides a multitude of different varieties of pumpkins for our gardeners and their relatives. In 2019 we were also blessed with a ton of Strawberries, Blackberries, Blueberries, and Raspberries. So, please reach out to us if you have an interest in joining our gardening family. We would sincerely, love to have you aboard!
